Samsung Electronic Tanzania has for the first time associated the brand with a local Tanzanian celebrity. In the official signing ceremony Samsung was delighted to announce their new Brand Ambassador, the award winning star, TV & Radio jockey Vanessa Mdee.
The event which took place at Hyatt Hotel saw Samsung and Vanessa finalise the agreement by signing contracts. The symbolic gesture will see Ms. Mdee act as the face of Samsung Electronics in Tanzania.

As the Tanzanian brand ambassador, Vanessa will be instrumental in the visibility of company’s wide range of products.
Speaking during the press conference the Managing Director of Samsung Electronic Tanzania, Mr. Mike Seo stated, “having recognized the growing needs within the middle segment of the Tanzania smartphone market who better to assist in communicating our message than someone who embodies the very qualities that are associated with our devices and target market.” He adds that “We are very excited to announce our collaboration with Vanessa as our Ambassador for Samsung Electronics Tanzania. As an award winning artist and positive contributor to the Tanzanian public, Vanessa representation of the multi-dimensional modern young Tanzanian is a feature Samsung can associate with and as such we are thrilled to have such a personality represent our brand.”
Vanessa Mdee who was accompanied to the press conference with her management team commented on her delight of being part of the Samsung brand she stated “Samsung is a reputable and iconic brand, it is an honour to be an ambassador of the world’s leading electronic conglomerate, this is just the beginning of what will be a fruitful 2015 between myself and Samsung. Personally, I am looking forward to what lies ahead and cannot wait to get started with the various activities.”

Over the course of her career, Tanzanian singer, songwriter, award-winning music star Vanessa has released 5 songs including Closer, Hawajui, Come Over, Wave Clap Dance and Siri. She has also been featured in songs like Me & You by Ommy Dimpoz, Money with AY, Monifere with Gosby, Bashasha with Bob Junior and Nisamehe by Angle.
Vanessa has won numerous awards including 2 Kili Music Awards and One All African Music Award. She has involved herself with different campaigns and high profile projects such as Staying Alive Foundation Project, Zinduka Campaign, MTV Africa Music Awards, Sauti za Busara International Music Festival, UNAIDS Mali Youth Summit in Bamako, International Conference on HIV and STI's in Addis Ababa - Ethiopia.
Mdee has hosted MTV Base Meets, a show geared towards empowering young Africans from around the world by giving them the rare opportunity to sit down with influential leaders, Kili Music Awards, Epiq Bongo Star Search (EBSS), Dume Challenge, 'Switch On' campaign by Airtel, Coke Studio Africa, Kili Music Tour, Serengeti Fiesta Music Tour, Coca Cola Chart Express, Pan-African weekly TV show and MTV's Base Select 10.
She also has been awarded at a gala in New York City by the UNA-YP (United Nations Association of Young Professionals) for being an African change maker; she was awarded by the GAVI Alliance for her support in the initiation of free vaccinations for Tanzanian children. She became GAVI Ambassador and an active voice against cervical cancer.
Mdee also run her daily radio show The Hit list on Choice FM (Clouds Group). She also received in 2014 an endorsement deal from Crown Paints, to be its brand ambassador in Tanzania.
